Why do guys say something's cute when it's really not cute?

so i was sitting in my boyfriends lap and he started tickling me and i begged him to stop because i'm super ticklish and i really had to pee. well he wouldn't let me go or stop tickling me so i burst out laughing and at about that time my bladder burst one of the biggest pees i've ever had all over me, him, and the couch. then he started laughing and said it was cute.but we both know there was nothing "cute" about that.so why do guys say somethings cute to a girl when it's really not? even if it's Just to make them feel better?
