What are ovarian follicles and can this effect my fertility?

My pap test came back abnormal, potentially cancerous cells. I had my pelvic ultrasound today and my results were clear except for my ovaries, my left which has a follicle 1.5cm and my right ovary hasmultiple small follicles, wat does this mean?? I've been bleeding for 3 months straight and the doctors cant explain this yet. Im booked in for an internal with possible biopsy's on the 18th june..im 23 have 2 children, im a little worried
