Now the UK Afghan commander says we're not going to win militarily...?

It's pretty surprising he's come out and said that. Most insurgencies end up with some sort of negotiations, look what happened in Iraq the americans worked with some groups and brought a stability about. In N. Ireland talking and give and take worked. It will probably work here, but because of 9/11 the some of the american generals are dead set against working with them. The British when they went into helmand after some of the biggest battles made truces through neutral families/tribes. The 2 star general who was american thought it was almost treason he by all accounts was furious and wanted him removed. I think it was a practical idea that will probably have it's day.
