Emailing the admissions deans? or not?

i was just wondering if it would be a good or bad idea to email the admissions deans and your intended school every once and awhile, you know, to inform them of your interest and such. would it increase your chances of getting in? what about donating money to the school? i'm just brainstorming here, please feel free to leave me your suggestions...
